Ayyub
The Epitome of Patience

A prophet whom Allah tested with severe illness and the loss of his family. It is reported that he was also wealthy and lost his wealth, and that his trial lasted many years. He stayed patient: he never complained about Allah, he only called on Him. Allah healed him and gave him back his family and as many again (21:84).

The Test
Ayyub was afflicted with harm and illness, and lost his family (it is reported he also lost his wealth)
Lesson: Tests can come even to the best people
The Prayer and Healing
He prayed: 'Harm has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.' Allah answered him, removed his harm and gave him back his family and as many again (21:83-84)
Lesson: When in pain, turn to Allah with hope
